Provides nursing care for Emergency Services patients.
Requirements
Strong customer service skills
Effectively communicates both verbal and written
Current in BLS, arrythmia recognition, & ACLS
Able to operate stretchers, wheelchairs, monitors, & various electrical/battery powered equipment
Able to use basic office equipment
Minimum Associates degree in nursing
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana
Nice To Haves
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Responsibilities
Uses only approved abbreviations.
Understands patient safety goals & actions taken.
Uses 2 patient identifiers before giving treatments, demonstrates process.
Understands read back of verbal orders/critical lab values & can state process.
Understands procedure to clarify physician orders.
Uses standing orders when indicated.
Accurately calls report to MD as warranted by condition; reports to other providers as needed.
Reports sentinel events or adverse drug reactions or incidents as warranted.
Uses final verification before invasive procedures & can verbalize correct process & documents in EHR.
Reassesses patient in response to changes in condition after intervention as needed & documents in EHR.
Performs clinical skills for all ages served in a timely & appropriate manner & documents in EHR.
Communicates with & provides education to patients, caregivers, & family members in a timely manner (using respect & dignity when dealing with death & dying) & documents in EHR.
Triage assessment is done timely, appropriate classification is assigned & responds appropriately to patient condition/complaint.
Takes accurate & appropriate history.
Performs appropriate physical assessment including pain assessment & use of a pain scale for all patients.
Demonstrates knowledge of & uses equipment appropriately & safely.
Collects specimens accurately & timely, including labeling specimens correctly.
Accurately & timely documents medications given.
Completes accurate & timely narcotic documentation including wastage.
Demonstrates knowledge & appropriate use of high-risk medications.
