About The Position
Inova Loudoun Ambulatory Surgery Center is hiring a full-time, seasoned Endoscopy Registered Nurse to provide patient care as part of its team. This is a day-shift-only position with no nights, weekends, call, or holidays. The RN circulates and assists with gastrointestinal procedures, including EGD and colonoscopy, and supports communication and coordination among the endoscopy team.
Requirements
- At least one year of procedural experience in endoscopy or gastroenterology.
- Strong understanding of endoscopic equipment, patient monitoring, and sedation protocols.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon start.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Exceptional patient communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
Nice To Haves
- Circulating or scrub experience is highly desired.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, based on facility.
Responsibilities
- Circulate and assist in gastrointestinal procedures, including EGD and colonoscopy.
- Communicate between team members within and outside the endoscopy suite.
- Inform the OR Nurse Manager of case progress, reports, and unusual circumstances.
- Arrange the room for specific GI procedures.
- Verify proper function of necessary equipment.
- Ensure adequate supplies are available for each procedure.
- Verify operative consent for the correct patient, procedure, and physician; ensure documentation is signed, dated, and timed; and verify the chart contains a complete and updated history and physical.
- Assist with patient transport to and from the GI room.
- Assist the anesthesia provider during induction and other crucial periods, as needed.
- Assist with decontamination of equipment and instruments using detergents and disinfectant solutions.
- Float to the Operating Room as needed if the candidate has OR nursing experience.
