About The Position

Holland Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse for their Endoscopy department. This role involves pre-operative patient preparation, including IV insertions and occasional medication administration. Intraoperatively, the RN will work closely with the provider, anesthesia, and GI technician to perform endoscopy procedures, process pathology specimens, and manage post-operative care and discharge. The position also includes providing patient education pre and post-operatively. The RN will coordinate care to achieve desired outcomes, participate in patient and family teaching, and demonstrate leadership by delegating and collaborating with ancillary nursing and other healthcare team members to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Registered Nursing Program required
  • Current Michigan RN License (or completed by end of orientation) required
  • Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider (or completed within 60 days of hire) required

Responsibilities

  • Work pre/intra/and post-operatively.
  • Pre-operative: get patients prepped and ready for procedure. Including IV insertions and occasional medication administration.
  • Intraoperative: work closely with provider, anesthesia, and GI technician to perform endoscopy procedures.
  • Process and send pathology specimens to lab.
  • Post-operative management and discharge of patients in the department.
  • Provide patient education pre and post-operatively.
  • Coordinate care to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Participate in patient and family teaching.
  • Provide leadership by delegating and working cooperatively and collaboratively with ancillary nursing and other members of the healthcare team in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Promotes patient safety by maintaining the policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing department, including maintaining the Patient's Bill of Rights.
  • Practices in accordance with the ANA Standards of Professional Performance.
  • Collects and documents comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation.
  • Demonstrates ability to use critical thinking skills to analyze assessment data to determine the pertinent diagnosis or issues.
  • Responds appropriately to changing needs of patients, including response to emergency/life threatening situations.
  • Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation.
  • Develops and documents an individualized plan of care which incorporates the patient's significant other as appropriate and that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
  • Identifies initial and ongoing discharge planning needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify, evaluate and document the patient's response to care given.
  • Coordinates care across the continuum to meet the identified and anticipated needs of the patient and his/her support network.
  • Functions as advocate for patient/significant other.
  • Demonstrates skills needed to implement the identified plan of care, incorporating elements of Standards of Professional Performance as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and adjust priorities based on patient/unit needs.
  • Demonstrates ability to evaluate and document patient's progress towards attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrates ability to optimize patient learning through evaluating a patient's learning abilities and carrying out the education of the patient.
