About The Position

The Emergency Department is a 54-bed unit serving the communities of Halton, Halton Hills, and surrounding areas, with approximately 78,000 visits annually, projected to increase to 81,000. The ED treats patients of all ages with medical and mental health illnesses, featuring a 5-bed mental health unit and a dedicated DI cluster. A roaming triage model ensures quick patient assessment and deployment to the appropriate treatment area. The 24-hour staff includes nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and a robust multidisciplinary team. Dedicated internal medicine in the ED, with two nurse practitioners, facilitates comprehensive assessments for timely referrals and admissions. The role involves functioning interdependently with the multidisciplinary team to assess and treat adult and pediatric patients in the Emergency Department, which includes a large stretcher treatment area with a RAZ unit and a Fast Track unit.

Requirements

Current Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current Heart & Stroke Approved BLS Provider Card upon hire.
Previous Emergency Department experience required
Experience in triage and in-charge responsibilities required.
ACLS certificate required at time of hire and ongoing.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
Satisfactory employment and attendance record required

Nice To Haves

Successful completion of Canadian Emergency Nursing Certification Exam would be an asset
Successful completion of post-diploma Emergency courses, e.g. TNCC, ENPC, PALS, would be an asset
Basic ECG interpretation and 12 lead ECG application and interpretation preferred
