About The Position

At North Alabama Medical Center, our Emergency Department is supported by a collaborative team of 70 RNs and nursing support staff, caring for approximately 46,000 patients annually. This fast-paced, team-oriented environment provides valuable hands-on experience. Our 24/7, 36-bed Emergency Department team blends advanced clinical expertise with compassionate, patient-focused care. We also offer OASIS Emergency Services, an eight-bed unit dedicated to senior patients, providing a calmer environment with specially trained staff and access to a gerontologist.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required
  • BCLS required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred; must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Two-three years of experience preferred, but new grads welcomed to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
