About The Position
Collaborates with physicians to develop and implement a plan of care aimed at returning patients to optimal health. Provides direct bedside nursing care, executes medical orders, and oversees the functions of ER Technicians. Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the patient care plan.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current license to practice in the state of Michigan
- Valid Michigan Registered Nurse License
- BLS issued by America Heart Association or Red Cross Certification
- Must satisfactorily complete first available Basic Dysrhythmia course
- Must satisfactorily complete ACLS course and Basic Neuroscience course within one year of hire/transfer
- Must satisfactorily complete Non-Violent Physical Intervention course within one year of hire/transfer
- Must satisfactorily complete TNCC (Trauma Nurse Certification) within two years of hire/transfer
- Must satisfactorily complete PALS within two years of hire/transfer
Responsibilities
- Integrates evidence-based knowledge into practice.
- Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments for nursing care.
- Facilitates and participates in patient conferences.
- Identifies and addresses patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with appropriate resources and attending planning conferences.
- Assumes responsibility for professional growth by seeking educational opportunities.
- Teaches and guides professional and ancillary personnel.
- Precepts and mentors new employees and students.
- Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
- Communicates relevant information effectively and understandably.
- Demonstrates organizational skills through effective planning.
- Utilizes the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation) throughout hospitalization, involving the patient and family in the plan of care.
- Demonstrates safe medication administration according to established procedures.
