About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Services team. This full-time position involves working 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. If you have a background in Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Care, Telemetry, or the Emergency Department, we encourage you to apply. This role is crucial in providing direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries, managing high-stress situations, and ensuring patient and family education.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
• EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients upon arrival to determine the severity of their condition and prioritize care accordingly, following standardized triage protocols to quickly identify patients who require immediate attention due to life-threatening conditions.
• Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries, which may involve administering medications, performing procedures such as wound care or splinting, monitoring vital signs, and managing pain.
• Assist with stabilizing patients and initiating life-saving interventions in cases of severe illness or trauma, including advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma care.
• Manage high-stress and rapidly changing situations effectively, remaining calm, focused, and decisive while providing care to multiple patients simultaneously during busy shifts or mass casualty events.
• Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions.
