About The Position

Nemours is seeking a 36 hrs/wk, 3P-3A Registered Nurse (Emergency Services) to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida. Nemours Children’s Hospital is a 100-bed pediatric hospital featuring the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed specifically for children, as well as outpatient pediatric clinics. It is a hospital designed by families for families, blending the healing power of nature with healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care. The Registered Nurse implements the patient care delivery model for the patient and their family, utilizing policies, procedures, and guidelines to make clinical practice decisions. They independently develop, implement, evaluate, and modify clinical practice, matching formal knowledge with critical thinking and nursing skills. The role involves collecting and interpreting complex patient data, recognizing and responding to dynamic situations, and engaging in multidisciplinary collaboration. Nurses are expected to demonstrate knowledge-seeking behaviors, participate in the research process, and implement evidence-based changes. They create a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment, promote comfort and healing, and develop professional relationships with patients and families. The role also requires recognizing and incorporating differences into patient and family-centered care, demonstrating effective communication, and preserving patient confidentiality and rights. Advocacy for patients, families, and Associates is crucial, as is serving as a moral agent to resolve ethical and clinical concerns. Collaboration with patients, families, and Associates to achieve optimal goals, participation in team meetings, and involvement in nursing/hospital governance are expected. Nurses will utilize appropriate resources for safe, effective, and financially responsible nursing services, develop strategies across the continuum of care, and contribute to standards of care. They will also identify educational needs and facilitate learning for patients, families, Associates, and the community, assess readiness to learn, and utilize evidence-based teaching plans. Seeking a mentor and serving as a mentor, coach, or preceptor are also part of the role.

Requirements

ASN required
Active Florida or multi-state RN license, required
Minimum of 6 months of RN experience required
Valid American Heart Association BLS Certification; must be valid for 90 days post start date.
Valid American Heart Association PALS and ACLS

Nice To Haves

National certification in area of clinical specialty (preferred)
experience in pediatric specialty area, preferred

Responsibilities

Utilize policies, procedures, guidelines, and reliable methods to make clinical practice decisions.
Independently develop, implement, evaluate, and modify clinical practice matching formal knowledge with critical thinking and nursing skills.
Collect and interpret complex patient data with clinical events to make clinical decisions to meet individual patient and family needs.
Recognize and respond to the dynamic situation while sorting out extraneous detail and exercises clinical judgment based on an immediate grasp of the whole picture for the patient population of the assigned clinical area.
Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration, proactively seek expert consultation, and delegate to other clinicians, as appropriate, while using evidence-based guidelines.
Demonstrate knowledge seeking behaviors and identify clinical questions. Seek advice, resources, and/or education opportunities to improve patient care.
Participate in the research process and implement changes in practice based upon the evidence.
Create a safe, compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients, family, and Associates.
Promote comfort and healing and prevent unnecessary suffering with vigilance, engagement, and responsiveness.
Develop professional and trusting relationships that facilitate patient/family coping while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
