About The Position

Nemours is seeking a 36 hrs/wk, 1P-1A Registered Nurse (Emergency Services) to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida. Nemours Children’s Hospital is a 100-bed pediatric hospital featuring the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids, as well as outpatient pediatric clinics. It is a hospital designed by families for families, blending the healing power of nature with healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care. The Registered Nurse implements the patient care delivery model for the patient and their family, utilizing policies, procedures, and guidelines to make clinical practice decisions. They independently develop, implement, evaluate, and modify clinical practice, matching formal knowledge with critical thinking and nursing skills. The role involves collecting and interpreting complex patient data, recognizing and responding to dynamic situations, and engaging in multidisciplinary collaboration. Nurses are expected to demonstrate knowledge-seeking behaviors, participate in the research process, and create a safe, compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment. They must also recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences into patient and family-centered care, preserve confidentiality, and advocate on behalf of patients and families. Collaboration with patients, families, and associates is key, as is participating in team meetings and nursing/hospital governance. The role requires utilizing appropriate resources for safe, effective, and financially responsible nursing services, contributing to the development of standards of care, and facilitating learning for patients, families, associates, and the community. This includes assessing readiness to learn, utilizing patient teaching plans, and potentially serving as a mentor or preceptor.

Requirements

ASN required
Active Florida or multi-state RN license, required
Minimum of 6 months of RN experience required
Valid American Heart Association BLS Certification; must be valid for 90 days post start date.
Valid American Heart Association PALS and ACLS

Nice To Haves

National certification in area of clinical specialty (preferred)
experience in pediatric specialty area, preferred

Responsibilities

The observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care; health teaching and counseling of the ill, injured, or infirm; and the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of others.
The administration of medications and treatments as prescribed or authorized by a duly licensed practitioner authorized by the laws of this state to prescribe such medications and treatments.
The supervision and teaching of other personnel in the theory and performance of any of the acts.
Utilize policies, procedures, guidelines, and reliable methods to make clinical practice decisions.
Independently develop, implement, evaluate, and modify clinical practice matching formal knowledge with critical thinking and nursing skills.
Collect and interpret complex patient data with clinical events to make clinical decisions to meet individual patient and family needs.
Recognize and respond to the dynamic situation while sorting out extraneous detail and exercises clinical judgment based on an immediate grasp of the whole picture for the patient population of the assigned clinical area.
Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration, proactively seek expert consultation, and delegate to other clinicians, as appropriate, while using evidence-based guidelines.
Demonstrate knowledge seeking behaviors and identify clinical questions. Seek advice, resources, and/or education opportunities to improve patient care.
Participate in the research process and implement changes in practice based upon the evidence.
Create a safe, compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients, family, and Associates.
Promote comfort and healing and prevent unnecessary suffering with vigilance, engagement, and responsiveness.
