About The Position

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper. The nurse establishes an authentic, personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system and collaborates with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health. The nurse uses scientific evidence and compassion to help patients navigate their health journey and is accountable for managing and providing care in accordance with current policies and procedures. Patient care is provided and documented under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager. This is a part-time, non-exempt position. The role may include on-call responsibilities as directed and travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed. The position may require safety equipment, such as a HEPA mask, for infection prevention. The base compensation range is $38.61–$63.94 per hour. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible candidates.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Current RN licensure in the applicable state.
CPI certification within three months of hire is required for Emergency Department positions.
Ability to perform basic nursing skills for groups of patients and assume charge responsibility.
Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly.
Ability to administer medication using the five rights.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer knowledge.
Ability to safely and effectively care for all patient populations presenting to the department.
If an RN license has been inactive, retired, or lapsed for five years or more, and the candidate has not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board-approved refresher course is required before reactivation or reinstatement. The candidate must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the course.
Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including constant standing, frequent walking, bending or stooping, and lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 100 pounds; Safe Handling Equipment must be used for weights over 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Four-year/Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
One year of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Establish personalized relationships with patients and their chosen support systems.
Collaborate with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
Provide and document patient care under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager.
Use scientific evidence and compassion to assist patients in navigating their health journeys.
Implement interdisciplinary plans of care with patient advocacy.
Educate patients and their support systems in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Analyze, modify, and implement strategies to progress patients through their plans of care.
Ensure completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and related therapies.
Prioritize duties according to patient needs and changing acuity levels.
Build positive relationships with team members and internal customers to support efficient patient treatment.
Mentor, precept, orient, and provide feedback to team members.
Resolve conflicts independently when appropriate, accept responsibility for actions, and respond positively to feedback.
Provide routine nursing care, including starting IVs and performing dressing changes, for multiple patients in a timely manner.
Assist in critical situations, including administering CPR.
Administer and evaluate medication therapies.
Perform patient transfers and transport patients by wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
