About The Position

This role is responsible for triaging incoming patients based on the severity of their injury or illness. The nurse will plan, evaluate, problem-solve, and create/implement a plan of care directed by an Emergency Department provider. Key duties include administering prescribed medications, accurate assessment and documentation in the electronic medical record, and utilizing effective communication skills to ensure proper patient care. The position also involves educating patients and families, advocating for patients, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The nurse must maintain professional knowledge, adhere to legal requirements within their Scope of Practice, and apply ethical principles. A strong emphasis is placed on actively leading a culture of safe care, promoting healthy interpersonal working relationships, and treating all individuals with dignity and respect. Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Emergency Nursing.

Requirements

Associate degree or bachelor's degree from an approved NYS accredited nursing program.
Current licensure by NYS.
Certification in BLS.
Certification in PALS.
Certification in ACLS.
Certification in Coronary Care.
Certification in TNCC.
Certification in ENPC.

Nice To Haves

Coronary Care certification preferred.
TNCC preferred.
ENPC preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as a patient/family advocate.
Cooperate and collaborate with all members of the health care team.
Apply ethical principles in caring for patients and serving families.
Carry out duties and responsibilities per legal requirements under their Scope of Practice.
Actively lead a culture of safe care per the Vision and Values of Community Memorial Hospital.
Promote healthy interpersonal working relationships, free of judgment, and create a safe environment of care for patients, visitors, and co-workers.
Treat all parties with dignity and respect.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as designated by the Director of Emergency Nursing.
