About The Position

The Emergency Department at Walworth Hospital and Medical Center is an 11-bed unit with 2 trauma bays, and it also serves as an Urgent Care. This campus is applying for Level 4 trauma designation and is an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital (ASRH) designation, ensuring rapid response for stroke patients. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. They administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws practice act. Documentation is performed according to standards of care. The nurse performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. They develop, initiate, and execute a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy, including patient and family instruction. Participation in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance, is expected. The nurse utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care. Critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience is utilized, and concerns are appropriately escalated to the appropriate chain of command. Participation in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions, and peer review process is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • ADN required upon hire.
  • Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
  • Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines).
  • Other certification(s) per unit requirements. For example : ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP.
  • May include color blind test (per department guidelines).
