About The Position

This is a contract position for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ECC/ER). The unit is a 29-bed ED with a 4-bed Behavioral Health BDU and a 7-bed Fast Track, all of which can swing to ER. The hospital is a Level 3 Trauma Center. The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:5, but can be higher based on volume/census. Epic experience within the past 2 years is required. Orientation is 20 hours for short contracts. Scheduling is rotating self-scheduling with no blocked scheduling. Weekend and holiday work is required. There is no on-call requirement. The patient population includes adults and pediatrics, from neonates to geriatrics. The dress code is navy blue or white scrubs with closed-toe shoes. Documentation is done via EPIC and the medication system is Pyxis. Additional notes include a requirement to start within the next week, license on file required at submission, no cell phone or earbud use while working, explanation of employment gaps over 90 days, complete work history required, and a reliable vehicle is strongly recommended due to public transportation limitations.

Requirements

  • Active New York RN license or proof of application with applied date.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience (Emergency Room).
  • AHA BLS certification.
  • AHA ACLS certification.
  • AHA PALS certification or ENPC equivalency.
  • TNCC certification (must be active or proof of class prior to start).
  • NIHSS certification (required prior to starting).
  • Epic experience within the past 2 years (nonnegotiable).
  • License on file required at time of submission.
  • All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained.
  • Complete work history required for submission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Room.
  • Manage patient care in a 29-bed ED, 4-bed Behavioral Health BDU, and 7-bed Fast Track.
  • Adhere to a nurse-patient ratio of 1:5, potentially higher based on volume.
  • Utilize EPIC for documentation.
  • Administer medications via Pyxis.
  • Work rotating self-scheduling shifts, including every other weekend and holidays.
