This position requires critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies, high intensity interventions, and high-level continuous nursing vigilance. The nurse will utilize information and assessment data to anticipate and respond with confidence, adapting to rapidly changing patient conditions. They will identify and prioritize information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient-focused action. Responsibilities include monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment, interpreting electronic displays, responding to life-saving situations, observing and assessing patients' conditions, and developing/revising individualized plans of care. The role also involves functioning as a patient and family advocate, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills for age-appropriate care, serving in roles such as preceptor or charge nurse, and collaborating with the medical staff and interdisciplinary team. Effective communication, documentation, and delegation are key. The nurse will also contribute to the knowledge and skills of others, participate in committees, and assume responsibility for their own professional development.
