About The Position

This role is responsible for triaging incoming patients based on the severity of their injury or illness. The nurse will be involved in planning, evaluating, problem-solving, and creating/implementing a plan of care as directed by the Emergency Department provider. Key duties include administering prescribed medications, accurate assessment and documentation in the electronic medical record, and effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team. The position also emphasizes patient/family advocacy, ethical practice, and adherence to legal requirements within the Scope of Practice. A strong focus is placed on promoting a culture of safe care, healthy interpersonal working relationships, and treating all individuals with dignity and respect. Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Emergency Nursing.

Requirements

• Associate degree, bachelor's degree from an approved NYS accredited nursing program
• Current licensure by NYS
• Certification in BLS
• Certification in PALS
• Certification in ACLS
• Certification in Coronary Care
• Certification in TNCC
• Certification in ENPC

Responsibilities

• Cooperate and collaborate with all members of the healthcare team.
• Apply ethical principles in patient care and family service.
• Carry out duties and responsibilities per legal requirements under the Scope of Practice.
• Actively lead a culture of safe care per the Vision and Values of Community Memorial Hospital.
• Promote healthy interpersonal working relationships, free of judgment, and create a safe environment of care for patients, visitors, and co-workers.
• Treat all parties with dignity and respect.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as designated by the Director of Emergency Nursing.
