About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) at Texas Health Dallas is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves responding to patients' safety, physical, psychological, and social needs, honoring their worth through unconditional acceptance and respecting patient rights. The RN will engage families and caregivers in healthcare situations, participate in mutual problem-solving with patients and families to help them understand and confront their health and illness, and collaborate with families, physicians, and peers. The department is fast-paced and high-volume, averaging 200 patients per day, and offers self-scheduling for work-life balance, opportunities for educational and career growth, and a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) with engaged leadership.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma in Nursing required or Associate’s degree in nursing required or Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • 1 year of experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
  • 1 year of emergency department acute care experience strongly preferred
  • RN – Registered upon hire required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required
  • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training annually within 90 days required
  • TNCC – Trauma Nursing Core Course within 6 months required or ATCN – Advanced Trauma Care Nurse within 6 months required
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • 1 year of emergency department acute care experience strongly preferred
