About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department will provide professional nursing care in accordance with the Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies and procedures. This role involves employing critical thinking skills to assess patients' conditions, recognize changes, plan and evaluate care, monitor patient progress, and record pertinent observations. The nurse will also delegate appropriate patient care tasks to other staff and function as a team member to fulfill unit goals. These are general characteristics, and duties may vary by assigned unit or shift.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing; If associate degree in nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a bachelor’s degree in nursing within five years of position start date.
Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
Current CPR Certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within three months of start date into position
Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within three months of start date into position
Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) within three months of start date into position

Responsibilities
