About The Position

Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each patient regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) assigned to his/her care and is responsible for the patient’s care within the parameters of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes; quality of care and initiates change through active involvement in unit-based and hospital shared- governance councils. National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for the registered nurse as he/she utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises appropriate nursing judgment. The registered nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes. Also, the registered nurse will serve as a role model by actively participating in the process of continuous professional development, teaching and learning across the healthcare continuum.

  • BSN required except as noted: Individuals hired as a Staff RN prior to October 1, 2013 are grandfathered and exempt from additional BSN requirements. Individuals hired as a Staff RN with at least 10 years of Staff RN experience who don’t hold a BSN will be required to either (a) obtain a BSN by enrolling in a program within one year of hire and completing within 5 years of employment or (b) obtain a specialty certification within one year of employment. Individuals hired as a Staff RN with less than 10 years of Staff RN experience who don’t hold a BSN will be required to obtain a BSN by enrolling in a program within one year of hire and completing within 5 years of employment.
