About The Position

Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring an RN for the Emergency Department. This is a full-time position with 36 hours per week on the night shift. The Emergency Department is a high-volume, fast-paced unit with over 40 beds and more than 100,000 patient visits annually. The department includes multiple treatment areas that care for patients across all acuity levels, offering diverse clinical exposure and the opportunity to work with a strong team focused on quality outcomes and performance excellence. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. Leigh ED welcomes new grads and experienced nurses interested in moving into this new specialty. The 20-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in the Emergency Department.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year emergency, intensive care, intermediate care or med/surg nursing experience preferred.
