Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring an RN for the Emergency Department. This position is full-time, 36 hours per week, with multiple shifts available including Day Shift (7a-7p), Mid Shift (11a-11p), and Night Shift (7p-7a). The Leigh ED welcomes new graduates and experienced nurses interested in this specialty. A 20-week Transition to Practice/Nurse Residency program is provided, focusing on orientation and skill acquisition for Emergency Department practice. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards for specific clinical areas. This is a high-volume unit with over 40 beds and more than 100,000 patient visits annually, featuring multiple treatment areas for patients across all acuity levels.
