Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

The Henry Ford Medical Center – Sterling Heights is a full-service medical center that includes a 24/7 emergency department. This role is responsible for providing fast, safe, and secure emergency care in a high-acuity environment. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care using the nursing process, perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and execute nursing care plans, delegate and supervise tasks, document patient care, communicate with the healthcare team, identify and implement solutions for variances, provide patient and family education, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient safety and quality outcomes.
Requirements
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Strong clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to develop and implement effective nursing care plans
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
- Demonstrated ability to assess, prioritize, and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced emergency environment
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 1+ years of clinical experience in an Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit setting
- Experience with emergency nursing protocols and trauma care
- Advanced certification in emergency nursing (CEN) or critical care nursing (CCRN)
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care using the nursing process to deliver quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced emergency environment
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations to inform clinical decision-making
- Develop and execute effective nursing care plans that address patient needs and support positive health outcomes
- Delegate and supervise nursing tasks appropriately while maintaining accountability for all patient care activities
- Document patient care, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in accordance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements
- Communicate pertinent patient and family information clearly to the healthcare team to ensure coordinated, safe care delivery
- Identify and implement solutions for variances from established patient goals and care plans
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient safety and quality outcomes
