About The Position

Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned. The Registered Nurse assesses the patient and identifies patient care needs, using patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care. The nurse plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient care, facilitates a safe environment, and maintains required competencies. The role also involves functioning as a charge nurse as assigned, maintaining an accurate and relevant record of patient care, and administering medication as ordered by a physician. The nurse must recognize life-threatening situations and respond appropriately, establish collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staff, and monitor the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators. Additionally, the role requires active participation in cost containment and assisting in accurate charging for patient services, as well as adjusting care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients and supporting patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within the limits of the medical regimen. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state license
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written skills required
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills
  • Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served
  • Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
  • Visual acuity for observation of patients
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • RN - Board Of Nursing
