About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This role is a .7 FTE (56 hours) per pay period, 8-hour day shifts, with every other weekend rotation. The schedule is variable, with day shifts from 0700-1530. We are committed to delivering outstanding health care in our growing community! Our 184-bed facility offers a wide range of diagnostic & therapeutic services. The Emergency Department unit has a total of 29 beds that see a variety of patients, pediatric through geriatric, abdominal pains, falls, strokes, chest pain, headaches. We are a dynamic team that focuses on promoting a welcoming atmosphere filled with strong teamwork, collaboration, empathy, and compassion. We are looking for a nurse who has strong social skills and knows how to communicate with both our patients and their fellow staff, who is compassionate, and who is a positive teammate.

Requirements

  • 1 year of ICU, ED or Critical Care RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • ACLS: Must complete no later than 6 months post hire
  • TNCC and PALS: Must complete no more than one year post hire.
  • ENPC: If the RN has never had it, need to complete no more than one year post hire. Once lifetime (does not need to be current).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year experience
  • Certification by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing as a CEN or CPEN
  • One year Emergency Department, pediatric/ adult critical care, or telemetry experience

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s).
  • The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
  • The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
