About The Position

The Emergency Department (ED) provides high-quality, compassionate emergency care to patients presenting with a variety of acute medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions. The unit consists of 12-22 treatment beds. We provide care across all phases of emergency service — triage, stabilization, treatment, and disposition (admission, transfer, or discharge). Our patient population includes pediatric, adult, and geriatric individuals, encompassing both low-acuity and high-acuity presentations. We are committed to delivering timely, patient-centered care in a community-focused environment. Our Care Team is composed of Registered Nurses, paramedics, certified nursing assistants, physicians, and advanced practice providers, all working collaboratively to provide safe, efficient, and quality care. Our PCM, department educator, and Charge Nurses are available to support staff with education, clinical guidance, and access to policies, protocols, and resources. Our electronic medical record system is EPIC.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required
  • Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • RN - Board Of Nursing

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Experience in hospital and emergency settings preferred
  • 1 year of experience or greater in ED/ER or Med-Surg

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needs
  • Uses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care
  • Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient care
  • Facilitates a safe environment
  • Maintains required competencies
  • Functions as charge nurse as assigned
  • Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
  • Administers medication as ordered by physician
  • Recognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriately
  • Establishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staff
  • Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators
  • Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services
  • Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients
  • Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen
