About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care through nursing education, nursing research, and innovations in nursing practice. This role involves responding to patients' priorities regarding safety, physical, psychological, and social needs, honoring their worth through unconditional acceptance, and understanding their unique perspectives. The RN will engage families and caregivers in healthcare situations, participate in mutual problem-solving with patients and families to help them understand and confront their health and illness, and demonstrate professional behaviors. Texas Health Dallas is a Magnet-designated, full-service hospital with over a half-century of experience, specializing in cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, women's services, and emergency medicine. It is a Level I Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma in Nursing required or Associate’s degree in nursing required or Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
1 year of experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
1 year of emergency department acute care experience strongly preferred
RN – Registered upon hire required
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required
PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days of hire required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training annually within 90 days required
TNCC – Trauma Nursing Core Course within 6 months required or ATCN – Advanced Trauma Care Nurse within 6 months required
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
1 year of emergency department acute care experience strongly preferred
