About The Position

Watertown Regional Medical Center is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Emergency Department team. This position involves working 36 hours per week on the night shift (1900 to 0700) with a rotation for weekends and holidays. The hospital is located in southeastern Wisconsin and has received national awards for its high-quality care from various reputable organizations. The role focuses on providing comprehensive nursing care, planning, and evaluation within the established patient care philosophy, utilizing the nursing process and primary nursing principles. The RN will collaborate with other shifts and departments to ensure continuity of care and participate in educational activities.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Nursing Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)-Required
  • Valid licensure in the State of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Six (6) months of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a direct patient care setting unless entering into the Nurse Residency Program
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing Preferred
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire
  • PALS within 6 months of hire
  • Handle with Care Certification within 6 months

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing patient care duties for the assigned unit or department.
  • Plan, provide, and evaluate total nursing care in accordance with the established patient care philosophy.
  • Facilitate individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing.
  • Relate effectively with other shifts for continuity of care.
  • Maintain satisfactory relations with other departments and nursing units.
  • Participate in all phases of education.
  • Identify existing and potential problems and seek or implement appropriate solutions.
  • Perform plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
  • Administer medication.
  • Document patient care given.
  • Provide nursing care through planning, organizing, and facilitating the nursing function for assigned patients.
  • Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
  • Work as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
