About The Position

This position involves providing direct nursing care within the Emergency Department at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. The role requires implementing and monitoring patient care plans, assessing patient conditions, coordinating care with various healthcare team members, and managing discharge planning needs. The schedule offers full-time night shifts (7p-7a) and full-time evening shifts (3p-3a or 1p-1a). New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
PALS Provider obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
For the Freestanding Emergency Room, a minimum of one (1) year of critical care or emergency experience is required.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
