About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members. This is a full-time, 12-week training program offering a mix of didactic learning and clinical preceptorship for Registered Nurses interested in advancing their careers into specialty of Emergency Department nursing or new graduates with relevant ED experience. You will be compensated for training hours and will be benefit-eligible.

Requirements

ASN / ADN from an accredited program with the ability to obtain your BSN from an accredited program within four (4) years of hire
Current Colorado RN license or compact license with the ability to obtain Colorado RN license
Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association
Ability and willingness to work all shifts – days, mids, and/or nights – dependent on departmental need
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Nice To Haves

At least one (1) year of RN experience, preferably in an acute care environment
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
New grad that did rotations in or a preceptorship in the ED unit

Responsibilities

Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients.
Utilizing the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.
Working under stressful conditions with a high volume of patients.
Learning in classroom and online settings as well as at the bedside in the clinical setting.
Committing to the 12-week training period uninterrupted.
Seeing and reading information, labels, assessing patient needs, operating monitors, identifying equipment and supplies.
Verbally communicating as well as hearing and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
Manipulating complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
Lifting and utilizing full range of movement to transfer patients.
Bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
Walking and assisting with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
Pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
Navigating crowded and busy rooms.
Standing in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
Driving a vehicle (if applicable).
