About The Position
Job Responsibilities: Patient Assessment & Care: Perform rapid, accurate assessments, initiate treatment, and manage care for critically ill or injured patients in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Triage: Prioritize incoming patients based on the urgency of their needs. Intervention: Administer medications, manage intravenous lines, and assist with procedures such as intubations and sutures. Collaboration: Work alongside emergency physicians, technicians, and specialists to develop and implement care strategies. Communication: Provide clear, effective communication with patient families, emergency staff, and support teams. Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely documentation of vitals, patient history, and treatment in electronic health records. About Sentara Norfolk General Hospital: Region's first Magnet Hospital. Requirements
- Previous Emergency Department or acute care experience is highly preferred.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid Virginia license or compact state license.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required
- Strong critical thinking, stress management, and emotional resilience in high-stakes situations.
Nice To Haves
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
