About The Position

The Electrophysiology Registered Nurse provides comprehensive care coordination for Veterans with cardiac arrhythmias and cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs), including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and implantable loop recorders. The RN manages complex patient situations, advocates for patients, and coordinates evaluation and treatment for cardiovascular and electrophysiology conditions. The role includes comprehensive assessment and triage, independent longitudinal care coordination, patient and caregiver education, pre- and post-procedure coordination, and follow-up planning. The RN independently interrogates CIEDs in outpatient settings and, when clinically indicated, in inpatient and ancillary settings; reviews and interprets device data and remote transmissions; troubleshoots device concerns; and communicates significant findings to Electrophysiology providers. The position also involves accurate clinical documentation, multidisciplinary problem solving, workflow coordination, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, research activities as assigned, continued competency, and cross-coverage within the integrated EP/Device RN model. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, day shift, with variable start times. Telework is not available, and this is not a virtual position. Relocation and recruitment incentives and permanent change of station are not authorized. The position is in the Excepted Service and does not confer competitive status.
