About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Nurse Consultant-Educator in ensuring compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, ICF/IID standards, OSHA regulations, and Department of Health and Human Services policies. The role supports the development of educational materials, training curricula, and instructional sessions for nursing staff. It also assists in developing and revising policies and standards to ensure safe, competent nursing care for more than 200 individuals with intellectual disabilities and acute or chronic medical conditions. The position helps establish evidence-based clinical policies and procedures in response to changing technology and medical needs, including direct observation of clinical services. Additionally, it supports the Nurse Supervisor in data collection, quality improvement monitoring, and implementation of policies and procedures. "This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events."

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
  • Thorough knowledge of professional nursing principles, medical terminology, disease processes, medications, and the laws and regulations governing nursing care.
  • Strong understanding of agency and program philosophies, policies, procedures, and formal training programs.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment in assessing training needs and evaluating educational programs.
  • Strong skills are needed to develop course outlines and lesson plans and to clearly communicate information verbally and in writing to diverse audiences.
  • Superior technical writing, computer skills, and completion of all required clinical competency and credentialing requirements (including medication administration, CPR, and CP) are essential.
