About The Position
The Boiler Operator works in the Steam Plant, operating and maintaining steam boilers used for heating. This position may serve as a shift operator in medium-sized plants or as an assistant in larger, more complex facilities. The Steam Plant runs 24/7 year-round, and the operator works under the supervision of the Steam Plant Supervisor. Key duties include starting, shutting down, and monitoring boilers to ensure efficient operation. The operator performs water tests, adds necessary chemicals, and conducts routine maintenance. They also assist with more complex maintenance tasks as needed. Requirements
- One year of progressive experience in the performance of tasks associated with mechanical maintenance or boiler operation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as principles of mechanical maintenance.
- Candidates should have experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, boiler, or plumbing work in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Requires the ability to use computers and maintenance software, accurately record readings, and follow written or verbal instructions.
- Applicants must be able to work independently and perform heavy physical tasks when needed.
- Basic math skills and a valid driver’s license are also required.
