About The Position

A-Team Solutions is seeking Registered Nurses for full-time positions in the Emergency Department (ED) at the VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. The role involves providing care to Veterans with acute and urgent medical problems, triaging psychiatric walk-ins, and providing humanitarian care to minors and dependents. The RN will manage patients with chronic illnesses, acute cardiac, musculoskeletal, and urologic issues. The average patient age is 58 years, primarily males ranging from 20 to 70+ years.

Requirements

  • Licensed in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • Graduated from a school of nursing accredited by the National League of Nursing (NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Hold a full and unrestricted license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through American Heart Association.
  • At least 1 year of critical care or emergency medicine experience within the past 5 years.
  • Computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to Veterans with acute and urgent medical problems.
  • Refer Veterans requesting long-term care to primary care.
  • Triage psychiatric walk-ins and refer to Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES).
  • Provide humanitarian care to minors and dependents until stable for transfer.
  • Refer patients requiring major trauma care to the nearest trauma center.
  • Manage patients with chronic illnesses such as COPD, CAD, hypertension, diabetes, and substance abuse-related diseases.
  • Manage acute problems mainly of cardiac, musculoskeletal, and urologic origin.
  • Be accountable for defined groups of patients on his/her shift.
