About The Position

The Labor and Delivery (LD) RN is committed to providing superior, personalized, and compassionate care to pregnant women, their newborns, and families. This unit provides 24/7 care in a family-centered manner. Patients cared for by LD RNs are women of childbearing age who are pregnant, and their newborns, as well as selected antepartum and postpartum patients experiencing complications during and after childbirth. This unit is a safe and nurturing environment with consideration given to age and developmental level. As an LD RN, you must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of the patient. To provide care to childbearing women and their newborns, the LD RN must use their knowledge to assess the physical and emotional needs of the patient/family and develop a plan of care that incorporates these principles. The LD RN must have the ability to implement the plan, and to supervise others with the implementation and assess its effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Current registration with New Jersey State Board of Nursing required.
  • BLS required.
  • NRP within 3 months of hire required.
  • ACLS within 3 months of hire required.
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring within 3 months of hire required.
  • Must meet all requirements of basic RN job description and perform independently for all elements.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrolled in a BSN or MSN program from an accredited school of professional nursing within six months of hire or rehire and graduate on or before the third employment anniversary date into a nursing position.
  • BSN or MSN graduates preferred.
  • MB or Maternal child health experience preferred.
  • National certification recommended within 3 years of hire preferred.
