About The Position

Community Heart & Vascular Hospital is expanding its ECMO program and seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) who can also serve as an ECMO Specialist. This initiative aims to enhance critical care capabilities by integrating expert teams under standardized protocols for seamless, coordinated care for critically ill patients. The program focuses on clear pathways for patient selection, cannulation, and management, aligning with national standards. This role signifies Community Health Network's commitment to providing exceptional, life-saving care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an NLN, CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA accredited school of nursing, OR three years of related professional nursing experience.
  • Valid RN license to practice in the state of Indiana (or eligible under the Nurse Licensure Compact).
  • Minimum of 2 years of cardiac ICU experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • ECMO experience
  • 3 years+ experience in cardiac ICU preferred.
  • EPIC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to cardiac or respiratory failure patients requiring ECMO therapy within the Cardiovascular ICU.
  • Manage patients on ECMO, including monitoring and maintenance of the ECMO circuit.
  • Respond rapidly for ECMO cannulation, equipment/pump initiation, and set-up.
  • Float between the staff RN role and the ECMO Specialist role within the Cardiovascular ICU.
  • Demonstrate performance consistent with professional standards of practice, care, the Nurse Practice Act, and the mission and goals of Community Health Network.
  • Utilize skills in collaboration, delegation, negotiation, and management of resources.
