The Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery (CTOR) unit at Cincinnati Children’s is a national leader in pediatric and congenital heart surgery and transplantation, handling complex cases that other hospitals cannot. The unit features three state-of-the-art operating rooms and three pre-op rooms within the Heart Institute. The Heart Surgery Program treats congenital heart defects from before birth through adulthood, with surgeons experienced in complex procedures for adults born with heart conditions. The team performs an average of 600 cardiothoracic surgeries annually, including 15-20 heart, lung, and multi-organ transplants per year. Patients travel from across the United States and internationally to receive care from these experts.
