Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is implementing minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) to enhance nursing practice and quality of care. This role involves providing emergency nursing care to clients of all ages with diverse symptoms in uncontrolled environments, caring for critically ill patients on life-support equipment, and assisting clients in post-anesthetic recovery. As part of the emergency response team, the nurse will stabilize and resuscitate multi-trauma victims and prepare for and respond to disaster situations. The position aims to enhance client and family quality of life, requiring consultation, collaboration with other healthcare providers, and demonstration of expertise and leadership in nursing practice. The nurse will maintain and advance clinical competence, participate in hospital committees and approved research projects, and practice within a client and family-centered care model, adhering to the standards of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and organizational values.
