The Registered Nurse - Crisis Stabilization Unit works a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. This role involves maintaining comprehensive documentation in accordance with Mississippi Department of Mental Health Operational Standards, ensuring all required training, continuing education, and certifications are up-to-date. The nurse is expected to represent Region 8 and its administration positively, serving as a role model for colleagues. A key responsibility is providing a minimum of five direct service hours per day and offering oversight of the facility when requested by a supervisor to ensure the quality of medical and direct care services. Effective communication with peers and supervisors regarding consumer care is essential. The role includes assisting with medical evaluations and screenings, supporting physicians and clinical staff, completing and documenting consumer vital signs, weight, and urine drug screen results, and providing medication education and monitoring of physical problems for clients. Participation in treatment team planning and providing consultation and education services to staff, consumers, and families are also part of the duties. The nurse will respond to emergency contacts, administer injections and other medical services as directed by a physician, and manage medication and medical treatments according to standard nursing procedures. Adherence to the highest ethical and moral conduct is required in all interactions. The position also involves preparing reports, documentation, and maintaining consumer records, along with performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.
