About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse on a brand new 24-bed Comprehensive Liver Care Unit, which includes both Intermediate and Acute Care beds. The unit specializes in the care of Liver Transplant and Transplant Hepatology patients with critical care needs. The unit boasts manageable nurse to patient ratios of 1:3 and 1:4, 24/7 in-house provider coverage, and is part of a growing Liver Transplant program that completed 205 transplants in 2023. VCU Health is an Academic Teaching Facility and a Magnet Organization utilizing Epic for its EHR system.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state.
• Current RN licensure in Virginia.
• AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
• Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state’s Board of Nursing.
• All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date unless grandfathered under previous requirements.
• Clin II: 12 to 24 months RN experience.
• Clin III: 3 years of clinical experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant or care partner in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice (for Clin I).
• Academic Health Care Experience (for Clin II, Clin III).
• Experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice (for Clin II, Clin III).
• Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program (for Clin I, Clin II, Clin III).
• Certification in specialty area (for Clin III).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to Liver Transplant and Transplant Hepatology patients with critical care needs.
• Manage patient care with ratios of 1:3 and 1:4.
• Collaborate with 24/7 in-house provider coverage.
• Utilize state-of-the-art technology within an Epic EHR system.
• Contribute to a learning and growth environment within an Academic Teaching Facility.
