About The Position

This role is for a Care Team registered nurse (RN) in a Primary Care Community Internal Medicine Outpatient practice. The RN is responsible for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. This involves both in-person visits and non-visit interactions with patients and their care providers. Strong communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team are essential. The RN supports professional nursing practice across various settings and the continuum of care, adhering to the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Leadership activities include preceptor roles, informal/formal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. Delegation of patient care is based on skill, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. The role requires excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills, with potential participation in committees or projects. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle. Primary Care services encompass healthcare for existing medical needs, preventative care, acute care, and chronic condition management, delivered through various modalities including telehealth and web-based care. The environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, fostering long-term patient relationships. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship and welcomes F1 visa holders eligible for post-completion OPT, but not for the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship requires state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
  • All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
  • All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
  • 1 year RN experience is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends, and on-call.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Responsibilities
