About The Position

This role is for a Care Team registered nurse (RN) in a Primary Care Community Internal Medicine Outpatient practice. The RN will be responsible for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. This involves both in-person and remote patient interactions, as well as communication and collaboration with providers and other Care Team members. The RN will support professional nursing practice across various settings and care continuums, adhering to the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Leadership activities may include preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. Delegation of patient care will be based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are expected, with potential participation in committees or projects. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle for role responsibilities. The primary care setting is fast-paced and team-oriented, focusing on health care for existing medical needs, preventative care, acute care, and chronic condition management through various modalities including telehealth and web-based care. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship and welcomes F1 visa holders eligible for post-completion OPT, but is not eligible for the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
1 year RN experience required
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Experience working in a team environment.
Computer skills required.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
