About The Position

Utilizing the nursing process, this role is responsible for providing for the immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department, hospital, and regulatory agencies. The community reintegration unit (NB2) is an adult generalized inpatient unit in the psychotic division, serving all adult ages and diagnoses. The focus is to stabilize patients with milieu and medication management, along with group therapy, and prepare them for return to the community.

Requirements

Other Certificate/Diploma Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, ability to utilize the nursing process and to work collaboratively.

one year medical/psychiatric experience preferred

Responsibilities

Accurately assesses patients’ needs.
Utilizes multiple data sources to determine actual/potential health problems and functional status.
Utilizes Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths.
Performs point of care testing.
Communicates findings effectively to members of the healthcare team.

Demonstrates safe, accurate and timely medication administration using BMV scanning.
Reviews physician orders in a timely manner.

Participates in leading patient groups.
Accurately evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care interventions.
Documentation on the Nursing Plan of Care, protocols, and Assessment Flowsheet reflects response to intervention, demonstrates an understanding of patients’ response to treatment interventions.
Accurately communicates patients’ clinical status at clinical team rounds and change of shift reports.
Utilizes evidence-based nursing knowledge to guide practice decisions.
Provides a leadership role in organizing and providing patient care.
Provides direction and supervision of MHSs.
Delegates care interventions.
Assumes a leadership role in medical and psychiatric emergencies.
Promotes/provides for critical incident de-briefing following emergency event.
Anticipates acute milieu problems and delegates staff appropriately.
Participates in the training and education of RNs, MHSs, and other healthcare providers.
Provides for teaching needs of patient and significant others.
Provides health teaching related to patient needs and recovery goals.
Documents teaching in the patient’s record.
Informs treatment team of patients and significant others’ learning needs.
