This is a full-time Registered Nurse position within Atrium Health Mobile Medicine - Critical Care Ground Transports. The role involves collecting and analyzing patient data, developing and implementing care plans, and evaluating patient progress. The nurse will practice ethically, delegate tasks, promote shared governance, and continuously enhance their knowledge and competence. A key aspect of this role is the operational knowledge required for multiple modes of transportation including ambulances, helicopters, and airplanes, with specific training and adherence to FAA Part 135 regulations for flight crew members, including the use of Night Vision Goggles. The position requires independent initiation of advanced practice procedures to improve patient outcomes, such as drug-assisted intubation, needle chest decompression, central line placement, and intraosseous placement. The nurse will also manage airway support and ventilation equipment, and transport/monitor patients requiring advanced life support devices like ECMO and VADs. This role operates in an autonomous environment, demanding critical decision-making in unique settings like accident scenes with limited resources. The nurse will respond to disaster scenes and may be deployed for extended periods, working in potentially hazardous environments including inclement weather and biohazards.
