The Clinical Supervisor-Nursing is responsible for ensuring the nursing staff provide quality care, expedited throughput, and excellence in patient experience. The Supervisor-Nursing assists the Director in communicating and supporting the vision, mission, and goals of UHS and NWTHS for the department. The position will consist of staffing as well as operational tasks as assigned by the Director. This role coordinates all flow activities and acts as a liaison between nursing, physicians, hospital associates, patients, and visitors.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • Current licensure/permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment. This must be obtained prior to providing patient care.
  • Certifications required by RNs in the department of employment must be obtained in the timeframes required by the applicable department.
  • De-escalation training within 90 days of hire.
  • Ongoing compliance with demonstration of clinically pertinent competencies as determined by the facility.
  • ACLS within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment
  • PALS within 3 months of hire and maintain certifications throughout employment.
  • TNCC within 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Handle with Care within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Minimum of 4 – 6 month’s experience as an employed nursing student in the specific unit, nursing students must have completed a leadership semester in the ED, or one year as an RN in a hospital setting.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred, or must enroll in program and have completion within 2 years.
  • Minimum of 2 years leadership experience preferred.
  • ENPC encouraged

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and monitors the implementation of patient flow processes ensuring operational efficiency and standardization of practice.
  • Ensures safe, quality patient care through appropriate allocations of resources to ensure effective patient flow.
  • Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities in the absence of the Charge Nurse.
  • Assists the Director with operational and quality related tasks as assigned.
  • Maintains clinical/leadership expertise and fosters commitment, pride, & service excellence in staff by promoting a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrates leadership in the provision of unit services through a collaborative process designed to integrate services/functions throughout the department and NWTH.
  • Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and improve performance of management, clinical, and/or support services in consistent with regulatory agency standards.
