This role is accountable for the delivery of quality care to patients and families according to the individualized needs of the patient. The Registered Nurse Clinical Review Specialist will perform an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the assigned patient's ongoing nursing care needs. They will develop/review/revise and individualize the plan of care to address the patient's nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcomes. The specialist will implement interventions that are consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner, and evaluate patient care to determine response to care/interventions for optimal patient outcome. This role also involves performing technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety, maintaining professional behavior, and initiating action to correct, prevent, or minimize risks to the patient, family, or hospital employees. Additionally, the specialist will review, delegate, and evaluate plans for appropriate utilization of staff, safely administer medications, and participate in the planning, implementation, and initiation of new Operating Room staff and students. The role includes reviewing and submitting weekly timecards, comparing procedures to dictation for billing accuracy, ensuring proper charges are entered and charts are complete, assisting other departments with procedural questions, entering new products into the electronic medical record, maintaining a list of products used in surgeries, investigating and correcting scheduling issues based on surgeon preferences, and creating preference cards for physicians.
