About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive healthcare services within a correctional healthcare setting for youth. The RN will play a critical role in delivering direct patient care, conducting health assessments, administering medications, responding to emergencies, and coordinating care to ensure the health and safety of both residents and staff.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Arizona
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience
- Ability to independently assess, analyze, and respond to medical situations
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices, patient care, and clinical procedures
- Ability to observe, assess, and document patient behavior and health status
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations
- Strong collaboration skills with healthcare teams and facility staff
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in correctional healthcare
- Experience working with adolescents, behavioral health, or underserved populations
Responsibilities
- Assess and respond to youth health concerns with appropriate nursing interventions
- Conduct intake health screenings for newly admitted residents
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor for adverse reactions
- Collect and process laboratory specimens (blood, urine, etc.)
- Monitor, document, and report vital signs and changes in patient condition
- Provide direct patient care and emergency medical response as needed
- Educate youth on health conditions, treatments, and procedures
- Coordinate care with healthcare providers and obtain medical records when necessary
- Maintain accurate and compliant medical documentation and health records
- Administer vaccinations and assist with annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing programs
- Ensure proper inventory, storage, and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment
- Perform additional duties as assigned
