The PCI nurse supports interventional physicians and facilitates procedures such as catheterizations, cardioversions, TAVRs, Watchman, and CardioMEMs. The role is primarily telephone triage (90%) with a smaller portion (10%) involving direct assistance in the clinic with physicians, patient assessments, and pending orders. The nurse provides competent clinical nursing practice across the life-span, facilitates transitions across care settings, and coordinates care delivery with other disciplines to improve patient care quality outcomes, decrease unnecessary utilization, and reduce associated costs across patient populations and healthcare settings. Daily ambulatory nursing practice performance is focused on telephonic patient triage, patient education, direct care interventions, collaborative leadership, and care coordination.
