Registered Nurse Childbirth Educator
About The Position
This role is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Childbirth Education within the Lactation department at Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN. The position is full-time, day shift. The nurse will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities for assigned services or populations. This includes collaborating with nurse managers and staff to identify learning needs, developing and evaluating educational plans and programs using adult education principles, and creating teaching tools and instructional materials. The role also involves maintaining records of educational activities, preparing reports, and potentially serving as an educator for unit-based, hospital-wide, and community programs.
Requirements
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home statelicense for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted preferred.
- Educator specializing in Childbirth preferred.
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time ofhire.
- CLC Required
- Labor and Delivery Experience Required

Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate educational activities planning for an assigned service or population.
- Collaborate with nurse managers and staff to assess learning needs and competencies.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational plans/programs and utilizes methods, measurements and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.
- Identify and/or develop teaching tools and instructional materials.
- Keep records of educational activities and prepares reports.
- Utilizes principles of adult education throughout all learning activities.
- May serve as an educator for unit-based, hospital-wide and/or community education programs.
- All other duties as assigned.
