About The Position

The Registered Nurse Chemotherapy delivers oncology therapies by safely administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments in accordance with clinical protocols. The role includes assessing patients for treatment side effects, allergic reactions, and hypersensitivities, and taking immediate action to protect patient well-being. The nurse safely handles cytotoxic agents and operates specialized infusion technologies, including PICC lines, PortaCaths, and programmable pumps. The position collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate comprehensive care plans from initial treatment through discharge planning.

Requirements

• Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Obtain an Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification within 180 days of hire or job transfer.
• Hold Registered Nurse credentialing from the Indiana Board of Nursing before hire or job transfer.
• Have a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or the required professional licensure at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Continuously assess patients for expected symptoms, allergic reactions, or hypersensitivities and take immediate action as needed.
• Handle cytotoxic agents safely and manage specialized infusion technologies, including PICC lines, PortaCaths, and programmable pumps.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team on comprehensive patient care plans, from initial treatment through discharge planning.
