About The Position

The Schwarz Cancer Center, opened in January 2020, is an 88,000 square foot, two-story facility located on the south side of the IU Health North campus. This facility integrates cancer services, including radiation oncology, hematology-oncology, pharmacy, laboratory, and patient navigation, to provide comprehensive care and support for patients and their loved ones. We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse for a Day Shift position, offering full-time or part-time schedules with no weekends, holidays, or on-call duties. While oncology experience is preferred, it is not required. The Clinical Nurse embodies the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adhering to ethical and compliance standards, and providing competent, evidence-based care across the care continuum. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to advance patient care plans, achieve outcomes, and improve operational efficiency, following ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Requirements

Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Responsibilities

The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency.
The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
